Beautiful piece. Can you tell me more about the piece? What clay is it made from?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece - so delicate looking and I love the color!
ReplyDeleteHi Tracy, I use white, low fire clay. Sometimes also use terra cotta (red) but not as much. The clay fires to 1945 degress for bisque and 1828 for glaze. I prefer low fire clay because the lower temperature enables me to get much brighter colors in the glaze.
ReplyDeleteThis piece is done with my sgrafitto technique, which is my signature technique. I use underglazes in layers, then scratch in the design with a sharp tool when the underglaze is still damp. After the underglaze dries I use a clear glaze on top to seal the design and the clay.
Oh lovely!! I think that needs to fly right on over to my house, I hope I win!!
ReplyDeleteHow did I ever miss your shop? Beautiful pieces! I'm adding you to my favorites and getting myself a thing or two. This is a very fun event,
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosanne, I'm glad you discovered me. I have to wear so many hats, and work full time at a "real" job, I don't spend enough time marketing myself. I'd rather be glazing..LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful pendant! I am glad you guys are doing this open house so I could discover more people who make wonderful clay beads! (and more ways to spend my money...heehee)
ReplyDeleteWow, this is gorgeous, put my name in the hat!
ReplyDeleteTracy your pendants are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are part of the open house and I found my way here.
